I was born August 24th in Monterey, California and raised in a small town just 10 miles north of Monterey, called Marina. I am the youngest of three. I have one older brother and one older sister.
According to my parents, when I was a baby I sure babbled and talked a lot. This was probably the first clue that I was destined to work in the radio field.
I was curious about radio and in high school I started calling radio station disc jockeys and asking them how I could work in this field. They told me I would have to start by taking any type of work I could find at a station and to be very persistent.
Persistence paid off when, in the spring of 1984, I was offered a position at KDON in Salinas as a radio equipment operator. I worked my way up the ladder and, two months later, had the opportunity to get my first on-air shift on a weekend overnight.
I graduated from Seaside High School in 1983 and went to college at San Jose State, where I received a BA Degree in Radio, Television, Film and Video and a minor in Business Management. During college, I worked as an intern at several radio stations in the San Jose area and had the opportunity to work with many talented people.
Hobbies – I love all kinds of music, from rock to jazz, new age, modern rock, and country. I grew up listening to country music because that is what my father listened to. I enjoy running, lifting weights, and traveling when I can afford to. I usually go to Hawaii once every couple of years and visit with my relatives. I hope that one day I will be able to visit the Orient and Europe. I enjoy action and comedy movies, especially Clint Eastwood films. My favorite foods are Mexican and Italian. I guess it’s a good thing I enjoy working out, otherwise I’d put on a few pounds.
