Hey Y’all, Its Amanda! Some of you may have already heard me on air, and the rest of you will soon! You might be wondering, “Who is this chick?” Well, I am one of the KRTY “WEEKEND WARRIORS”! I fill in for Indian Al occasionally on Saturday nights, and I have my own show from midnight to 6:00 am on Saturday mornings. You could say that I am the “baby” of the KRTY On-Air Staff because I am the youngest On-Air DJ here! Being a Radio DJ has been my dream since I was six years old, and thanks to KRTY I have been able to live out my dream for two years now. I’m very excited to be apart of the KRTY family!!
When I came in for my interview I was so nervous that I was “Visibly Shaking”. All I could think is “This is it! This is what I have been working for!” I was so anxious to know if I was going to get the job. I was hired on as a part timer board-operator. My first shift was Thanksgiving 2006. And with a little hard work I am now a part time On-Air Weekend DJ.
I was born and raised in Santa Clara County. Currently I am attending Community College, with a Major in Radio Broadcasting. I will be graduating in Spring 2009 with my A.A.! I have a wonderful family that stands by my side and encourages me every step I take in reaching my goals. I have awesome friends too! They may as well be part of the family! They are there for EVERYTHING, even if they don’t want to be. When I got my first On-Air shift in January 2007 my family and friends were so excited that they told everyone they knew. They even called in a few times to see how I was doing, and to swindle their song requests in.
The thing I enjoy most about working here is getting to talk to and meeting you the listeners! I love hearing all the stories!! Thank you so much for listening to KRTY and myself!!
